Y3 and Y4 Reading Gladiators

We read one book each half term and there is an expectation for the children to read a number of chapters at home each week. Parents tell me that this has been a wonderful opportunity to share books together and they have enjoyed this immensely!

The Reading Gladiators session is always one of the highlights of my week. There are so many fantastic texts to choose from for both year group and the planning is so well thought-out, not only to maximise engagement and enjoyment but also to deepen thought – the conversations we have are as rich and interesting as any adult book club! You can see the children falling more and more in love with reading and their teachers also report a real boost to their confidence and competence in literacy lessons too.

Open to Year 3 on Monday and Year 4 on Wednesday from 3.30 – 4.15pm in KS2.

Recorders CLUB

Recorders at lunchtime will be starting again this academic year and will take place on Friday lunchtimes 12 - 12:20pm in the Y4 classroom. Children who attended last year are welcome to continue to attend and any new Y3 or Y4 children who wish to take up the recorder are welcome to join as well. We will be revising the notes we learnt last year along with further developing our ability to play in time to a beat, play different rhythms and listen and play together as a group.

Ukulele Lunchtime Club

In Ukulele club we learn to strum and play chords on the ukulele. We learn to sing and play in time - a perfect opportunity for those who want to combine their musical skills. We play a variety of songs - as you heard during our performances last year and few of our members last year used their skills to begin writing their own music. You do not need your own ukulele and we will start our learning from the beginning - so do not worry if you haven't played before! This club is for Year 4 and runs on Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes.

Coding club

Come to Coding Club!

Would you like to learn how to make your ideas a reality? At Coding Club, you can learn how to make cool games, animations, and websites too! Code Club takes place here on:

Wednesdays after school at 3:30-4:15 Year 2 classroom for Year 1 and 2 children this term.

All young people should have to opportunity to learn to code. Coding Club will be a fun and supportive place where the children learn coding at their own pace in a way that works for them. As well as learning to code, our young creators will gain confidence and build their skills in problem-solving and teamwork.
